Ranjit statueStatues of Maharaja Ranjit Singh (on white horse) and Sardar Hari Singh Nalwa at Badrakhun village.

In the gurdwara, built in memory of Maharaja Ranjit Singh at Badrukhan village, the birthplace of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, about 2 km from Sangrur, four beautiful statues of Maharaja Ranjit Singh and his three generals Hari Singh Nalwa, Sham Singh Attari and Akali Phulla Singh (in a state of riding horses) attract the attention of every person who visits the gurdwara or crosses the road, which passes by the gurdwara.

The statues of Maharaja Ranjit Singh and Sardar Hari Singh Nalwa were built in 2001 by an artist from Jaimal Singh Wala village (near Tapa) Jarnail Singh and the unveiling ceremony of these statues was performed in November 2001 by the then Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.

The statues of Sham Singh Attari and Akali Phulla Singh were built by an artist from Sunam Ajit Singh Saron last year. The finishing touches (paintwork) of these two statues is in progress even as the unveiling ceremony of these statues will be performed this time also by the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on November 13 when he visits this village to participate in a state-level function to mark the birth anniversary of Maharaja Ranjit Singh.

Talking to The Tribune today, the patron of the Yadgar Gurdwara Maharaja Ranjit Singh Badrukhan, Jathedar Sukhdev Singh, said all four statues had been built at a cost of Rs 3 lakh. He also opposed the proposed installation of a statue of Maharaja Ranjit Singh on the Sangrur-Barnala main road in Badrukhan village, saying that the installation of a statue of the Maharaja on the road would lower his dignity. He also asked the Chief Minister to construct a big gate in the village in memory of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, in place of the proposed statue of the Maharaja on the Sangrur-Barnala road.
