On a Royal Tour of India 1905-6. The Royal couple traveled throughout the subcontinent from Bombay to Benares. In December of 1905 they arrived in Amritsar where they visited the Golden Temple and took a tour through the old city. As in the whole tour, the crowds were immense. Remarkably little information is left of this tour, and specifically of the time spent in Amritsar with the exception of some informal photographs that were taken on the day and remain preserved in an album. Unremarkably, many of the architectural features that can be seen in the background of the pictures has now been demolished.
