LAHORE: Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) chairman Lt Gen (r) Zulfiqar Ali Khan announced on Sunday that the prime minister had given a grant of Rs 140 million for the renovation of Sikh temples. He was talking to reporters at Wagah on Sunday. He said the amount was meant for the current year. He said another Rs 1 billion project would be started soon. Under this project, he said, three 200-bed hotels would be constructed. He said the hotels would be established at Lahore, Nankana Sahib and Punja Sahib (Hassan Abdal).

He said the government was facilitating the pilgrims on a priority basis. He said, “It is because of the government’s policies that a large number of pilgrims visit Pakistan.” He said the ETPB had made arrangements including residence, medication, security, food and transportation for the pilgrims. staff report

Great News! However, we should try to preserve historic buildings as much as possible. We visited India last month, visited Sultanpur Lodhi, We were happy to see very good buildings but disappointed as there was nothing preserved from Guru's times. We should keep the things as it is so that Generations could see and feel the times our Guru's stayed on those location. All Gurudwaras look same buildings these days. One can hardly find any historic content. Hope it's not done the same way in Pakistan. Govt. grant is great but I would request ETPB not to follow SGPC steps for this development.

As much as i have turned the pages of history books, i rarely found found Muslims Religion says or oppose Sikhism,
whatever Muslim kings did to our GuruSahibaans was in most cases lured wrongly by their ministers and if you read history that tell you ministers were Hindus. Take the case os GuruArjun Devji, he was tortured to the body only when he had refused a marriage proposal for sixth Guruji to hindu family. Same is the case of Chote Sahibzade, Gangu
[brahmin] was the cause. And more and more, if you read history politically you can find it easily.
Anyway the biggest SHAME is to SGPC, that is governened by hindus, just take a lesson from Muslims in Pakistan.
Yes they do love Baba Nanak as much as we do. Even Baba Nanak was not loved by Brahmins community that time
may be because Baba Nanak opposed their technique of bussiness by fooling the community. So Sikho it all started from that time how can we ignore that.

PAK government practical steps towards boosting of religious tourism enabling Sikhs throught world to visit holy Gurdwars in PAK is very much appreciated. Funds for renovations of Gurdwaras is another most appreciable step. But my request is that PAK government may also consider restoration of PAK left over Welfare TRust/Societies complexes to successor Trustees in India ;subject to inviting authetic documents of having left Trust property in PAK area. These Trustees are most willing to carry our various educational/destitutes welfare upliftment activities for Pakistani poor peaple benefits. PAK Wakf Board may show large heart to invite & encourage such willing Sikh Trustees' Managements in India/abroad & permit them to re-open such welfare institutions through their own likely generating resources.

I 100% agree with Veerji Jag Singh Aust. Atrocities, tortures were initiated by the Hindu ministers and the worst Ganggu Brahmin where he did not even spare the children. the fact that Pakistan is now going to assist is the best news. SGPC needs to learn from them. My heartfelt gratitude to the government of Pakistan " thank you"

This is a great moment in history. Pakistan Govenment need to be congratulated for this effort. It makes all Sikhs worldwide very proud. Lets pray that the funds are used in the right way and the Gurdwara's are benefited and become symbols of peace and humanity. We really hope that all Pakistanis will appreciate this and respect the gurdwaras like their masjids. It is just a question of education. Pakistanis especially punjabis share a lot common with Sikhs. Lets use this great moment to establish peace and brotherlyhood among us.

The Visa and all and the restoration and all sound good right? But
Did our God say to put faith in artificial things or the God himself? I think he said put faith in him and not the artificial objects. So if the old Punjab, now Pakistan, can spend some money for restoration, it is fine. But why put all the faith on artificial things. That is why we have wars. Israel and Egypt are good example. They fight over terretory thinking that the land has all the gold or God's powers. Is that true? So if the power is where the person was born, then why listen to that person at all. Just go to the source of where that person was born. If Jesus Christ was born there does that mean the God's powers belong just to that area? I dont think so. We have been repeatedly reminded that God is everywhere. So why would God leave more power at one place as compared to another. Are we dumb. Or we just not God believers. God is at your home if you believe it. He is everywhere. So what makes his birth place more Godely?

As I read about Gangu Brahmin, I am not sure how far its true, but read in one of the Punjabi News papers, saying that after Gangu got the sahibzadas arrested he was given a JAGEER by the muslim rulers. This JAGEER happened to be near the NEHAR, hence he came to be known a Gangu Nehru. This Gangu Nehru happens to be no one else but great great great grandfather of Moti Lal Nehru, Jawahar Lal Nehru's father. Historians should be able to throw some light on this episode.

Announcement and announcements and announcements..... What else can they (Indian and Pakistani leaders) do? Such announcements were also made in past by the Pak leaders but what happened???? Nothing... the Gurdwaras were being used for their source of income. The committee they have form for the care take of the Gurdwaras in Pakistan is nothing but a Puppet….governed by Muslim officials who doesn’t know about the Sikh code of conduct. These announcements are only to allure Sikhs living around the world. Specially living in India (this is another hidden agenda of the Pak government ... tries to break up society in India).
Even Indian government which is also using Sikh card for it own vested interest against Pakistan. Nothing specially done for Sikhs neither by India nor by Pakistan. Take the instance of “demand of passage to Kartarpur Sahib?.. The governments of both countries have been making announcements but what was done in real•&..nothing …. Even the issue was not taken in Indo Pak agenda in any level meetings.
BUT the innocents Sikhs were being made fool by the policy makers of the India and Pakistan.

It is so nice to hear that Pakistan Government has granted a big amount for renovation of historical gurdwaras. By doing developement in and aroud gurdwaras, they will earn good name in the eyes of sikh pilgrimages. But they should refrain from making major changes to the basic structure of gurdwaras, like SGPC is doing in India in the name of so called "KARSEWA".All the historical signs have dis-appeared from all the gurdwaras and all look alike, putting marbel everywhere.
In contrast ,In Pakistan they have not made any major changes.I am basically from Nankana Sahib. We used to live in Navi Abaadi, a sub- division very close to Gurdwara Janam-Asthan.In gurdwara's compoud known as Shahidi-Bagh was our primary school in that row of rooms which stand there rhe same way as today. They have added a new building, new Langar-Hall. Even other two quarters of the bagh are as they were. Go to Gurdwara Tambu Sahib, The outer paint of the building is the same famous Gurdwara-color. The old historic WAN tree stands rather lies the same way.Nobody has disturbed it.The same goes about the other gurdwaras. Those familiar with Nankana Sahib of 1947 will definitely agree with me.

I request the PSGPC and PAK. Gov. to see that historic aspect is kept in mind when renovation is done

why do we sikhs continue to be fooled by this hindu serpent..

read and analyze the history-- its hindus and hindus all along the way who hav always put us into dock and they will continue doing so because sikhism attacks the basic fundamentals of hinduism which is corruption, caste, bigoted meaningless rituals etc etc etc. so they fear us..

think abt it.

Whereas I am in complete agreement with Sardar Jag Singh, Australia we should altert our panth of the nefarious designs of the hindus to destroy us. I would also request thro' this mail that SGPC who has taken up the rennovation of the historic gurudwaras should not interefere in the basic architecture of these gurudwaras. They should also take up the cases of poor sikhs irrespective of their caste for better education and upliftment in general.

Its heartening to hear that Pak government has released a huge amount for restoration of Sikh Heritage , I am among the pilgrims who got to visit Pak in Nov '06 a most memorable pilgrimage, people over there are so lovable, they cried when we left them after being with them for 3 days only, every body thought we were leaving our relatives, langaar was served 24hrs at Nankana Sahebji by sindhi's of Sind , Pak gov released more than 100 buses for pilgrims to visit Gurudwara Sacha Sauda Sahebji , shopkeepers were very honest, they use to come after us to return our money , the LAND, THE PEOPLE , THE LANGUAGE , FOOD, LOVE , everything is as same as PUNJAB , I want to visit Pak once again, My father was born in Rawalpindi,he is 72yrs, but we didnot get the opportunity to go there, the train halted at the station for 45 mins, & the happiness which I could see in my fathers eyes cannot be described in words , hope in his next visit the visa norms are eased more and he gets the visa to visit his place of birth

It is so interesting to see that the gov't is taking money out of their own pockets to help with restoration. I am hoping they keep architectural and historical integrity in tact. On the other hand SGPC don't have the money to restore buildings, but the kar seva babbay have enough to invest in tiles and white paint. I would also like to say I disagree with Lali, I don't see god as being seperate from creation...hence creation should be maintained

It has taken us by complete surprise, that they do indeed care for the sikh community in Pakistan and around the world. Not only the PM of Pakistan has granted the money for the face uppliftment of the gurudwaras in Pakistan, but also the accomodation facilties for the pilgrimages visting the Gurudwaras in Pakistan.

Gurbani tells us, Awal Allah Noor Upaya Kudrat De Sab Bande! Ek Noor te Sab Jag Upjiya Kaun Bhale Kaun Mande!

I also like what Yogi Bhajan, another one of the great Gursikhs, said "If you can't see God in all, you can't see God at all" and essentially is another interpretation of Gurbani.
