Trust to spend Rs 24 cr on fort restoration PDF Print E-mail

The interior of  Nabha Fort, 2002Nabha, February 10:The Nabha Foundation Trust will spend Rs 24 crore on the restoration and renovation of Nabha Fort.” This is stated by Mr Randip Singh, MLA, Nabha, while talking to this correspondent at his residence. The trust is run by the Khemka family of the princely state of Nabha. Mr Randip Singh added that the trust would make an agreement with the Punjab government that it would spend Rs 2 crore per year for seven years for the restoration of the lost glory of the fort.

He said that now both had reached at a pact that the agreement would be renewed after watching the progress of the restoration work after seven years. He said the remaining amount of Rs 10 crore would be spent after the renewal of the agreement.

The unique decoration within the sheesh Mahal (Palace of mirrors) inside the fort shows deeply embossed gold work as well as more traditional wall paintings


Myths that gold is buried behind the most elaborate wall panels abound and this leads to destruction by robbers.
