No entry fee to be charged on visiting Jallianwala Bagh, says Pannu PDF Print E-mail

jallianwala-baghDistrict Commissioner Amritsar Kahan Singh Pannu Friday setting at rest all the speculations over the entry fee to be charged from the visitors to Jallianwala Bagh said that there is no such proposal has been initiated.

Talking to the media here Firday, Pannu said that there is no such move to impose entry fee to Tourists visiting the historic Jallianwala Bagh Memorial.
However, in this regard no such proposal was ever sent to Union Government of India.

It may be mentioned here that earlier the secretary of the Jallianwala Bagh Memorial Trust, S Mukherji, said that the trust has written a letter to the Union Ministry of Culture that entry fee be charged for tourists visiting the historic memorial.

Pannu said that it is national issue; Administration would never impose any entry fee, since this scared place belongs to our martyrs who fought for the freedom of our nation.

Talking over the statement of Mukherji, Pannu said that Mukherji has no authority to talk about to charge entry fee from visiting tourists.

Chairman Sheed-e-Azam Saradar Bhagat Singh Youth Front (NGO) Gurmit Singh Bablu said that if entry ticket is imposed he and his hundreds of colleagues would sit on fast unto death.
