Architect Moshe Safdie calls upon Punjab CM PDF Print E-mail

Moshe SafdieMoshe Safdie, World renowned architect, who had been engaged for the Khalsa Heritage Complex (KHC) - a prestigious and Dream project of Badal Government with capability of becoming one of the Wonders of the World in future, called on the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal here late last evening to discuss the present status of the construction and development works of the project.

Moshe Safdie was accompanied by his wife Michal Safdie,  Ashok Dhawan, Associate Architect, . Robert Barnett, President, Cultural Innovation Ltd.( London), Amar Behl, Design Specialist, AB Design Habit ( New Delhi), . N. K. Puri, Project Regional Manager, L&T.   

While discussing the various aspects related to the KHC project . Safdie, expressed his satisfaction over the quality of work.  Recalling the memoires  Badal said that it had been a coincident when he met with Moshe Safdie during his   Israel visit and discussed this idea of great Sikh Heritage Monument with Safdie.  Badal termed it as God sent opportunity because this project was conceived by him during his last term to mark the 300 th Birth Anniversary of Khalsa and now by the God's grace it was nearly completion by march 2009 that too during his present term as the Chief Minister.

It was also informed in the meeting that the sufficient groundwork on the project has already been done at a cost of Rs.122.80 crore. Approximately 95% of the work has been completed, the remaining works includes stainless steel roof cladding, internal finishing, site development works, exhibit design and land scaping. At present the finishing work of Complex-A and B is in full swing and would be completed by next month.

 Prominent amongst those who were present on the occasion included Chief Secretary, Punjab  R.I. Singh, Principal Secretary, Finance & CEO (KHC Project),  D S Kalha, Chief Engineer ( Project)  T.S. Gill.
